The Feeding Ourselves Community of Practice (CoP) brings together diverse stakeholders to advance practical solutions for resilient local food systems. A number of key initiatives are driven through working groups and living labs, each focusing on critical aspects of food sovereignty, land use, and local economies.

Current Working Groups & Focus Areas:

  • Land Observatory – Advancing the development of an Irish Land Observatory to improve land access, governance, and policy transparency.
  • Local Food Economy – Exploring strategies for strengthening local food policy and provisioning in collaboration with Feasta, Cultivate, and the emerging TB Local Food Policy Framework
  • Environment & Land Policy – Engaging with policy frameworks and advocacy networks, including the Irish Environmental Network (IEN), Environmental Pillar, and ARC2020, to support regenerative land management and climate-aligned food policies.
  • Short Food Supply Chains – Supporting the development of food hubs, advisory services, and local food facilitatators through partnerships with Cultivate EU4Advice, CODECS, OFN, Talamh Beo, and NOTS, fostering more direct and transparent relationships between producers and consumers.

These working groups provide collaborative spaces for knowledge-sharing, experimentation, and advocacy, driving systemic change in Ireland’s food systems.
